Additive for Enhanced Hydrogen Adsorption/Desorption Kinetics in Complex Hydrides

Description:

Reference #: 00395

The University of South Carolina is offering licensing opportunities for this technology.

Invention Description:

This technology is a new method for producing doped metal hydride compounds that has been shown to improve hydrogen storage characteristics.

Advantages and Benefits:

The method is an improvement from the traditional ball milling techniques and achieves enhanced distribution and uniformity of materials. As a result, the composition is a fused combination of dopants and metal hydrides. The fused compositions have excellent physical stability and desirable absorption and release kinetics. The overall benefit of the method is that metal hydride compositions with unique characteristics are produced that could not otherwise be achieved by traditional ball milling.

Potential Applications:

The method can be used to improve storage characteristics of hydrogen for fuel.
