Dr. Nagarkatti is the Vice President for Research at the University of South Carolina.  He is a Carolina Distinguished Professor in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and Director of the NIH Center of Research Excellence in Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases.  His primary research interests include immunotoxicity of TCDD and other endocrine disruptors, the use of cannabinoids in cancer therapy, and the role of CD44 in endothelial cell injury and antitumor immunity.  Dr. Nagarkatti received a Ph.D. from Jiwaji University, India.
