Edward L. D'Antonio, Ph.D.
Department of Natural Sciences
University of South Carolina, Beaufort

Dr. D'Antonio is an assistant professor of Biochemistry and Structural Biology. His uses the structure-based drug design methodology to develop new classes of competitive inhibitors for enzyme drug-targets found in parasites of trypanosomatid diseases. These diseases include Chagas' disease (Trypanosoma cruzi), human African trypanosomiasis (Trypanosoma brucei), and leishmaniasis (Leishmania spp.). Dr. D’Antonio received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from North Carolina State University.
